4:30 – 7:30 pm“Object Lessons”
A useful skill for enjoying artworks is learning to “listen” to how artworks talk to each other. Participants will develop an awareness of the invisible connections between artworks as we create new art that responds to the past and continues the conversation. We will also eavesdrop on 400 years of conversation during a tour of Stories Retold: American Art from the Princeton University Art Museum. This exhibition features memorable examples of how the meaning of an artwork is not fixed but evolves with the concerns and conversations of the time.
