World AIDS Day at the Speed

December 1 at 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

World AIDS Day is a day to honor those who have died from AIDS-related illnesses, remember those lost, and stand together in the fight against HIV. It’s also a day to celebrate victories like increased access to treatment and prevention services. At the Speed, we gather together to ignite the cause and join in on the conversations.

Programming will include art-making (themed around Collective Action), the “Coming Out (of the Collection): Queer & Trans Art” tour by Docent Aris Spagnuolo, gallery activities, and a FREE screening of Visual AIDS: Red Reminds Me . . . at the Speed Cinema. Lastly, VOICES of Kentuckiana will be singing in our atrium from 2 – 3 PM.

We will be partnering with Ryan White Program/550 Clinic who will be providing FREE HIV testing.
We are also doing a clothing and hygiene item drive here are needed items and all items will go to support Ryan White’s Program Unhouased or Housing Insecure Clients.

The first World AIDS Day took place in 1988, providing a platform to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS and honor the lives affected by the epidemic.
